Located on the west side of Parkland County, the Wagner Natural area covers a half section of land and contains a variety of rare plants and many species of birds. An interpretive, self-guided trail winds through the area allowing visitors to take a peaceful walk and experience all the natural wealth contained therein.
A special ecological feature of Wagner is its fens – areas of water-saturated peat existing because groundwater, carried through underground sands and gravels called aquifers, rises in the form of springs to the surface of the ground. The water then moves overland towards Big Lake, or accumulates in marl ponds.
Location: South of Highway 16 off Atim Road
