The Multicultural Heritage Centre has been preserving and promoting the history of Stony Plain for over 40 years. The centre seeks to engage local residents, businesses, governments, community organizations, and visitors as they record, promote, and celebrate the agricultural heritage, regional cultural roots, and historic values of the Town of Stony Plain, the City of Spruce Grove and Parkland County.
The centre includes the Old Red Brick School House, which features an art gallery, a museum, the Homesteader’s Kitchen, the Wild Rose Library, and a gift shop.
Alongside the Old Red Brick School House stands the Oppertshauser House, built in 1910. Currently under renovations, this will soon be the site of our expanded museum.
The centre runs a number of educational programs throughout the year and hosts Stony Plain’s Community Garden program.
The meaning of “multi” is: Much or many. And there is much to do, see, hear, feel, learn, make AND eat at the Heritage Centre. Many people will agree!
