Chickakoo Winter Warm Up
Sound interesting? – I bet it does, and it’s for a great cause!
Chickakoo Recreational Area will be requiring a non-perishable food or cash donation in exchange for the afternoon of outdoor fun and use of the equipment. All money and food donations are headed to a great cause, the Parkland Food Bank and the WEE Community Food Bank.
If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at some winter activities, Parkland County’s Community Economic Diversification department is teaming up with some local partners to bring you a brand new community event to help support regional tourism, community, and the great out doors.
Mud Sweat and Gears will be on site this Saturday with two fat tire bikes for those who’d like the opportunity to spin their tires in the fresh Parkland County snow!
Interested in strapping on some snowshoes and hiking around the recreational area Totem Outdoor Outfitters will also be onsite and providing both snowshoes and cross country skis for those willing to get their blood pumping.
The local geocaching community has also volunteered their services this Saturday to help with what is sure to be a challenging and exciting treasure hunt. 5 geocaching locations have been set up in the Chickakoo Recreation area and can be downloaded to your smartphone through a geocaching app or your GPS unit from Geocaching.com. If you’re not sure how to set that all up, there will be volunteers on site to help with the activities.
If you need a little refresher on the basics of ice fishing or just want to know where the best spots are in the Tri Region area you’re definitely in luck. Experts in the art of ice fishing, Get Hooked Fishing Adventures will be onsite giving tips and advice on how to angle those little fishies in the dead of winter.
