Tuesday – Little Hidden Jewel
Deer Meadows, Parkland County – This public nine-hole course is a hidden jewel where you’ll always get a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Wind through wide tree-lined, sloping fairways while avoiding water on six holes. Watch out for the par 4 hole 8 – take your tee shot to the creek’s edge and your second shot over the water onto an elevated green. Stay here overnight (or for a whole month) at the powered RV park, nestled in the mature trees between holes 1 & 9.
Wednesday – Short Course in the Hills
Duffy’s Challenge, Parkland County – This executive par 3 course has 18 holes cut into the sloping Glory Hills. The short course emulates larger championship courses with deep valleys, chutes, hills, water, and trees. Be sure to stay right on their signature 18th hole over water before enjoying lunch in their air-conditioned clubhouse.
Thursday – Lots of Wildlife
Grouse Nest, Carvel – This is a friendly, family-owned course (pictured at top) in a peaceful natural setting. Play nine holes through mature forest and around lots of water. Tell the kids to keep their eyes (and ears) peeled for wildlife – the beat of grouse drumming its wings, hidden duck nests, deer, rabbits, foxes and maybe even a lumbering moose!
Friday – Nine Holes on the Lake
Pineridge, Seba Beach – This charming course offers 12 holes on the west tip of Lake Wabamun, just 45 mins away from Edmonton. Tour lush fairways through mature trees, stop to lunch on one of the grill’s famous Pineridge Burgers and then walk back to your beautiful behemoth in the private and spacious RV park right on the course (leased seasonally).
Saturday – Day on the Range
South Century driving range, Spruce Grove – Get the kids outside in a peaceful country setting with old-growth trees lining the range. The range is open 10 am to dusk every day all summer with $7 and $10 buckets, rental clubs in all sizes and snacks on the licensed patio. Enjoy a family day on the green, and see the difference the right range can make. Practice makes perfect!
Sunday – Golf Close to the City
