Tri-Region Dog Parks

Four-Legged Fun in the Tri-Region

Tri Region Tourism Day Trip Ideas

Some days call for an adventure and quality time with the ones we love. May that be your family, children, friends, or a combination of all three, it’s important to set aside time for those who mean the most to us. For many people, this includes spending some much-deserved quality time with a special friend, family member and child all rolled up into one friendly furry face: your pet.

If there’s one thing proud pooch-parents love, it’s taking the time to go out with their playful pup and watch them run and play with other dogs. Off-leash dog parks are great for this very reason (the more dogs around the better, right?) With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it’s nice to get out and share an adventure with the fluffy friend who means the most. Here’s a few different ways you can enjoy a day full of laid back adventures, just you and your pooch.

(Psst! We know dog parks can get messy. That’s why we’ve added a few places you can take your pup after the park for some soap and suds.)

Prospectors Point Trail

If your dog likes to ruff it, Prospectors Point Trail is the place to be. Located in Parkland County, this moderately trafficked loop-trail is filled with beautiful scenery and a big beach for you and your pup to run and play. The trail is about 2 kilometers long, situated along a scenic view of the North Saskatchewan River. The drive is about 20 minutes from Spruce Grove, so you can spend less time driving to your destination and more time having fun with your puppy pal.

Umbach Off-Leash Dog Park

With its convenient location, dog pond, benches, walking paths and 25-acres of ample running room, Umbach is an excellent spot to spend an adventurous afternoon with your four-legged friend. This fenced park is located near the Stony Plain North Business Park, away from residential areas so you and your best furry-friend can enjoy a day of peace and serenity.

Cpl. Jim Galloway Memorial Off-Leash Dog Park

Is your fur-baby on the smaller side of the scale? Then this is the perfect park for you! This beautiful off-leash park is home to a very unique layout, containing a designated area specifically for smaller dogs. There is a total of 8.6 acres of off leash fun for your furry friends. This is a gated park, so you can have peace of mind while your pet runs free. There are plenty of amenities here, for both you and your dog to enjoy.

Marlboro Off-leash Dog Park

Located near Heritage Grove Park, this is an unfenced, off-leash park that’s perfect for a day full of fun and excitement for you and your dog. Both parks are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Access to the park is available from the Heritage Grove Park trail system, or pathway between 48 and 50 Marlboro Drive. Dogs are welcome in all other public spaces around Spruce Grove, but be sure to follow and respect the by-law guidelines.

Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area

This scenic park offers 480-acres of well-marked, leash-friendly trails just north of Stony Plain. Looking to meet a few other fellow dog-lovers? This local favourite is an increasingly popular spot for pet owners, making it the perfect spot to meet other pooch parents just like you! Enjoy the diverse wildlife and endless sights, all while making new friends (both two-legged and four-legged.)
